Getting Old

I'm getting old.  There is no other way to look at it.  Today, I'm 28...and that's old.

Ironically, getting old reminds me of being a kid.  I think I'm stuck somewhere between 8 and my current age....that is probably why getting a BMX is the most exciting thing this month!

So no updates today, just sit back and remember what being a kid meant, if you're my age anyway....

  • Nothing mattered as long as you were home before the street lights came on.
  • A walkman was a real improvement over a ghetto blaster.
  • The biggest threat of the week was being "caught" by the swimming pool vacuum.
  • McDonald's only had an 8 piece chicken mcnugget offering.
  • Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A, start could save you an entire summer.
  • Demonstrate was a dance and pumpkin was a person.
  • China was upside down world.
  • Radio played music.
  • Dedicating a song on the radio was a way to start OR stop a serious relationship.
  • Rat tails actually were cool....and so were folding sunglasses.
  • Go Bots broke the monotony of Transformers.
  • You could have a crush on Punkie Brewster and not be a freak.
  • A giant tire was an acceptable playground fixture.
  • Whale wheels and vampire wood were a status symbol.
  • Cassette tape glistened and decorated the sides of highways.
Those were the days, Goonies dominated the scene and bikes had pads on them....banana seats were still hanging on by a thread and the word NOT had so many meanings.

Yes, those were the days.

Well thanks for stopping by folks.

I'm Casey Kasem and remember, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.
